Škoda Fabia RS2000
There are a number of reasons why the Fabia RS2000 shouldn't work. It's very hard to make a convertible hatchback that doesn't look somewhat unresolved, for a start. It's tricky to build a four-door convertible that isn't all floppy. And there are plenty of obvious reasons why a drop-top rally car is a bad idea.
But that didn't stop Škoda building it anyway. And, to be fair, it's a pretty damned impressive thing to behold, its cutaway screen sitting atop a muscular and adrenalised version of what is generally a mild-mannered shopping car. As you may have guessed (and been slightly confused by), the base for this car is the Fabia Super 2000 rally car and, of course, it's not actually going to be available to buy. It was built as a treat for the fans at the GTI-Treffen at Wörthersee, and it seemed to go down rather well. Just don't expect to see Patrik Sandell bouncing through the forests in one anytime soon - it's for looky-looky, not touchy-touchy.
