This VolksRod eschews the usual rat-look aesthetic by cutting a clean, fresh dash. There are a lot of unique and original ideas in here; the artfully sculpted rear windows, the roof chop that slopes toward the heavily cut-down screen, the bamboo running boards and window surrounds, the staggered wires providing an unfeasibly long wheelbase... and this is no lashed-together build either; check out the front suspension set-up, for example. This rod represents hours of headscratching to bring an unusual tiki-themed Beetle to fruition: an engineering tour de force, and easily the car of the show at the latest Water by the Bridge event.
