To be honest, it's not exactly a looker is it? The vinyl top is somewhat ungainly and turns an elegant roadster into a bit of a lumpen monster. Still, I'm very glad that it exists, and in such incredible condition too - it would be so easy for the owner to turn this into an ordinary run-of-the-mill Thunderbird and cash in, but the fact that the peculiar tail has been retained demonstrates integrity; what we're looking at here is a slice of Dearborn history. Weirdly fascinating. And fascinatingly weird.
(If it turns out that this was a common thing in period, then do let me know...!)
