The Datsun 510 was a kind of Japanese BMW '02, with its front engine/rear-drive layout, independent rear suspension and revvy OHC engines. Their light weight and tunability made for a successful race proposition too, again much like the '02. This particular example raced in period in Peter Brock colours, receiving everything from the BRE catalogue to make it competitive against the BMWs and Alfa Romeos of the time. It produces 200bhp from its L20B engine, thanks in part to its twin-50 Mikuni carbs, and exploits its diminutive proportions to rasp to victory today with as much enthusiasm as it did throughout the seventies.
